We enjoy singing songs of worship and praise to our God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We praise our Lord and Father with our voices (a capella) with the words and music projected on a screen enabling everyone to participate. We sing a variety of songs from old favorite hymns to some of the newer praise and worship songs. We encourage everyone to join in and lift their voices to God no matter what your musical abilities are, because God is listening to our hearts. Usually we have a period of fellowship after our first few songs. Although brief, this time allows us to welcome visitors, as well as to greet one another. We are a friendly church and value the presence and participation of each individual. During our worship, we will be encouraged to pray together several times during the assembly. One of the greatest blessings bestowed on the Christian is the unlimited and free access to God through personal and corporate prayer. We believe God not only hears our prayers, but that He answers our concerns with wisdom and power. One of the most important reasons that we come together each Sunday is to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, the Christ. We celebrate this victory each Sunday by sharing in the memory of the Lord's Supper. Our Communion is shared amongst each other and with God. This commemorative meal, consisting of unleavened bread and grape juice, is offered to all baptized believers by men of the congregation who have been asked to serve it. We give special time to this remembrance, in devotional conversation and often with contemplative songs. We spend time teaching from God's word each week. We are led in study by men who are teachers in our congregation. Usually Larry Cline, our pulpit evangelist, leads our thoughts as he presents teachings from the Bible. We are also taught by other men in the congregation: our elders; guest speakers; and other men in the congregation whose talents lead them to share their knowledge and understanding. As our worship concludes, a collection is taken from those Hardin Valley members who have purposed to give of their means to the works of our congregation. We hope that you find the worship experience at Hardin Valley Church of Christ to be an uplifting and beneficial part of your Christian life and your service to God. If you live in the Knoxville area or are passing through, we invite you to join us in worship to God. |
